Slip Rings 103: Defining the System Interface

Slip rings are available in two basic mechanical configurations: drum style and platter style. Drum style has many advantages for most designs. Platter style is best for applications with limited length availability.

Drum style slip rings are available with and without through bores to pass fluid and pneumatic lines, waveguides, etc.  Sometimes it makes the most sense to use a through bore style for the power circuits and place a miniature slip ring capsule in the center.

Quick Turn PC Boards

MOOG Components Group’s Printed Circuit Board facility in Galax, VA provides overnight and fast-turn prototype quantities of printed circuit boards. The facility is qualified to manufacture product to both commercial and military standards, building to IPC Class 2 and 3 as well as MIL-PRF-55110 and MIL-P-50884. Their experienced engineering staff will identify potential manufacturing obstacles and data issues up front, while responding quickly to quotation requests.

Fairloc - The Integral Fastener

There are several methods to attach gears, pulleys, shaft couplers, flex couplings and other components. Some designs use just adhesives. Others use pins and set screws. These methods can damage and weaken shafts and make adjustment and replacement of worn components very difficult and expensive.
